The electro-rheology cell allows the characterization of the rheology of samples whilst in an electric field. Typical applications are electro-rheological fluids used for creating a physical resistance, liquid crystals and other electrically sensitive samples.
A DC voltage of up to c.10kV may be applied to the upper measuring system via an electrolyte solution and the lower plate is earthed. Any rheological test can then be carried out within a specific electric field. To create very strong electric fields, the gap may be narrowed as required. NB A power source can be supplied if required.
The Electro rheology cell is based on a peltier plate temperature control unit, and includes the electrodes, insulator, cable (to connect to high voltage power supply) and connectors. The cell can be supplied with a choice of plate geometries to suit the application (25 - 50 mm diameter).
Benefits:
- Allows characterization of any rheological property within a user defined electric field.
- Fits all rotational instruments.
- Allows measurements to be made using parallel plate measuring systems.
