Insitec S Configuration

Instrument Configuration Flexibility.
Malvern's Insitec S has been designed so that aerosol and spray researchers can configure an instrument to meet their precise requirements now and in the future.

  Droplet Size Range.
Choices of optical systems are available which allows the user to get the best balance between minimum measurable droplet size and working distance. The possible working distance increases as the minimum droplet size to be measured increases.
 
 

Bench Options.
The transmitter and receiver modules are attached to an optical bench designed to position the Insitec S system around the spray or jet to be measured. Two standard designs are available – the standard optical bench and the open frame optical bench. The transmitter and receiver modules are designed so that mounting on custom rigs is possible with minimal additional engineering.

Standard Optical Bench.
Two variants are available a short bench with a 300 mm spray gap and a long bench with a 500 mm spray gap.

Open Frame Optical Bench.
Two variants are available a short bench with a 300 mm spray gap and a long bench with a 500 mm spray gap.

Custom designed benches are available on request from Malvern.
 

  Laser Beam Diameters.
The standard Insitec S configuration uses a 10 mm beam diameter.

Certain applications may require greater spatial resolution within smaller sprays and so 6 mm and 3 mm beam diameters are available. By using a smaller beam diameter the number of possible measurement positions in a given space increases, providing higher spatial resolution for characterizing the spray or jet.
 

 

Enclosure Options.
Insitec S can be configured to operate successfully in a wide range of hazardous or hostile locations. A range of electronics enclosure options is available.

The following electronic enclosures are available;

Standard laboratory bench top enclosure.
No protection against liquids.

Protected to IP65.
Totally protected against dust and protected against low pressure water jets.

Custom enclosures available on request.

The Insitec S transmitter and receiver modules are protected to IP65.
